A BEM DA ARTE - CD



“A Bem da Arte” (For the Art Sake) is the first CD released by the Madeira Mandolin Orchestra, the most important musical group of its kind in Madeira Island.

This CD was released in February 1996, by the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of the association the orchestra belong to.

It contains several lively musical compositions by Ernesto Serrão (1898-1937), a former composer and conductor of this orchestra, and some others to which he made some arrangements (nr. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13 and 14)

The CD case also contains a 2 page booklet with several information about this orchestra and its former composer and conductor, Ernesto Serrão, in three languages (Portuguese, English and French), and last but not least, a list with all the names of the musicians and the instruments they played.
